Returning to work

The beauty of working in the hospitality industry is that if you have been away from work for an extended period, the industry can easily accommodate your return to work.

For parents, this can be ideal. Many jobs can be worked with great flexibility. You can work part time over a few days (eg. Monday to Wednesday), or for only a few hours in the day (eg.10:00am – 2:00pm). Hotels and pubs are all about looking after their customers and this extends to looking after their staff and family. Contrary to what you may think, working evenings and weekends can lead to greater opportunities to enjoy time with family, particularly with younger children. Parents who work flexibly in hospitality roles can share drop-off and pick-up duties and can participate in school activities more easily than those who have conventional 9am-5pm Monday to Friday roles.

If you have been caring for a relative or even travelling for an extended time, when you are ready to return, the hospitality industry is there for you. Even if you have not worked in the industry before, there are many opportunities to suit you and your skills. Don’t want a full-time job to start with? No problem! You will find any number of part time roles with the flexibility to suit you.
